Concrete Services in Lorton, VA
Lorton covers a lot of ground in southern Fairfax County. Laurel Hill grew on former Lorton Reformatory land after the prison closed in 2001, established neighborhoods sit alongside it, and much of the lower Occoquan watershed stays densely wooded under a Watershed Protection Overlay. Each part of the area needs slightly different concrete services. See our Lorton page for everything else we handle here.
Three Kinds of Lorton Projects
Newer Homes
In newer neighborhoods, owners mostly want more space: a bigger patio, a wider driveway, or a walk to the side gate. Stamped Concrete and Colored Concrete turn a builder slab into a real outdoor room, and Flat Work Concrete covers widening and new walks. If your community has an association, we provide plans for its review.
Established Neighborhoods
Older driveways and steps show their age. Concrete Repairs fix cracks, broken steps, and settled sections, while Concrete Resurfacing renews a slab that is structurally fine but rough on top. Many of these slabs have been through a lot of freeze-thaw winters, and salt tracked in off the roads speeds up the flaking. Where the base is still good, a repair or overlay costs far less than starting over.
Wooded Lots
Shade, roots, and leaf litter keep concrete damp and stained. Regular Concrete Maintenance, including cleaning and a breathable sealer, slows moss, staining, and salt damage. Where roots run under a planned walk, we bridge them with reinforcement or reroute the path instead of cutting major roots.
Water, Buffers, and Permits
Lorton is bordered by the Occoquan River to the southwest, with Pohick Bay and the Potomac nearby. Lots near those waters and their tributaries may be in Fairfax County Resource Protection Areas, where clearing and lawn expansion are restricted, and new hard surface may need review. Permits for Lorton go through Fairfax County. We check both before we quote a final design. On the ground, we grade every slab to drain away from the house and contain runoff during construction, because sediment from a job site ends up in the same waters.
Estimates are free and come as a written quote with each part spelled out. One crew carries the project from demolition through sealing.

Frequently Asked Questions
I live in Laurel Hill. Can you extend my patio?
Yes. We saw-cut the edge of your existing slab, prepare a compacted base, and pour the extension in a stamped or colored finish if you want one. If your neighborhood has an association, we supply plans for approval first.
My lot is near Pohick Bay. Will that limit a new driveway or patio?
It may. Lots near the Occoquan, Pohick Bay, and their tributaries can fall within Resource Protection Areas, where Fairfax County restricts clearing. We check your property before finalizing a design.
Why is my concrete stained under the trees?
Leaves, sap, and constant shade leave tannin stains and encourage moss. A thorough cleaning followed by sealer usually removes most of the staining and makes future cleanup much easier.
Do you need a permit for concrete in Lorton?
Some projects do, especially driveway changes and aprons at the street. Lorton is unincorporated, so permits go through Fairfax County. We confirm before we put your job on the calendar.
What makes a concrete quote go up?
A bigger area, thicker slabs, extra demolition, poor soil that needs more base, decorative finishes, and tough access all add cost. We list each of these on your written quote so nothing is hidden.
